In the example above, the client wanted a small bike graphic to be repeated in spot gloss on top of the black part of the business card. The spot gloss bikes had to stop at the edges of the logo and the wings. The spot gloss file has been set up in solid black detailing the area where the spot gloss varnish will be applied.
Spot gloss registration can vary around 1mm during production. This is something to keep in mind if the area for spot gloss is very fine and relies on near perfect registration. It is important to ensure your spot gloss file sits perfectly on top of your business card graphics when you supply the file. The best way to do this is to create your artwork on separate layers. This will ensure everything is perfectly registered. When it comes to exporting the file, you can simply select just the layer with the spot gloss artwork on and export to PDF. You can also supply your artwork as an Adobe Illustrator file.
Supplying the files this way will help us achieve the best registration possible for your spot gloss uv business card.
