When it comes to foil blocking text, bigger is always better, especially on textured boards which require more pressure and result in a deeper deboss. This deeper deboss creates more opportunity for foil to bridge gaps between small letters and 'fill in,' as shown in the image. The minimum text size for foil blocking artwork is 8pt. We do not recommend a text size smaller than this size, because there is a high risk that the foil will fill in. This will make the text illegible.
