EMBOSSING

Elevate your print with three dimensional raised design elements.

Embossing involves using a metal die, combined with a counterforce, which results in a design element being pushed through the card stock. One side of the design will have a raised (embossed) impression, whilst the other side will have a reversed debossed (pushed in) impression. Embossing can be combined with foil stamping to add an accent of colour or carried out without any colours for a 'blind' embossed impression. When creating your artwork for embossing, make sure you allow for space on the reverse of the design because both sides will be affected.

Embossing design considerations

Embossing affects BOTH sides of the card stock, so remember to allow for the reverse impression on the back of the card.

Embossing works best with thinner card stocks. The maximum stock thickness we offer embossing on is 540gsm.

We don't offer embossing on printed elements due to the constraints of registering digital printing and embossing. We offer blind embossing (raised impression with no colour) and foil embossing. which can be done in a single pass.

Intricate designs and small lettering is not suited to the embossing process. Chunkier designs and large solid text produce the best results.
